Plessy’s Green Gala

The Railyard NOLA, 710 Poland Ave., New Orleans

Saturday, April 20, 2024, 7 PM

Featuring performances by Kermit Ruffins, Gene’s Music Machine, Bella Blue, Alicia Renee aka Blue Eyes and more

Good Vibes

Immerse yourself in experiential art installations and enjoy guest appearances by popular local musicians, performers, artists and DJs, spinning vintage and original tunes. Play party games, visit our glitter bar, snap incredible photos in our imaginative greenery scenes, dance the night away and wait for a top secret live performance at the end of the evening. Open bar, great food, online and live silent auction, and more, all for an amazing cause! Proceeds will go to support free arts programming for the 700 students who learn through music, visual art, dance and theater every day at Plessy's elementary school in the Seventh Ward and middle school in the Treme.

Live Music

We are thrilled to feature guest appearances and music by the legendary Kermit Ruffins, the enchanting Alicia Renee aka Blue Eyes, Gene’s Music Machine, led by the incredible Gene Harding. The band is an interactive experience like no other, oozing with a funky twist. It mixes today’s top hits with funky R&B groove beats New Orleans-style, while featuring those local traditional flavors of the Mardi Gras Indians and that famous Second Line brass band sound.

Performances

You’ll be wowed by a collection of performances by burlesque icon Bella Blue and others that titillate the senses both on stage and throughout the venue over the course of the evening.

Fine Drinks

We’ll be mixing classics and some new creations using top-shelf spirits and organic mixers. Not a tippler? Not to worry—we’ll have a full menu of delicious mocktails on offer, too.

Grow Arts Education

This Green Gala is organized by Friends of Plessy, the parent-teacher organization of the 501c3 nonprofit arts-integrated charter elementary and middle school Homer Plessy Community School in the Treme and Seventh Ward of New Orleans. All proceeds from this event will be used to broaden and support arts education for our students who learn through music, dance, theater and visual arts every day. The art showcased at this gala reflects the talent already thriving at Plessy and will bring together our entire community for a fun night no one will forget.
